The Modern Jazz Quintet Plus banned in the fall of 2017. Led by drummer Nick Savage, the group covers a variety of standard material from every sub genre of jazz. The group recorded the "Standards" as well as "Christmas Standards" records in December 2017.
Though St. Louis serves as a strong base for the ensemble, the group is no stranger to traveling. MJQ+ has performed in all fifty states and abroad. Equipped with teaching supplements for young musicians MJQ also offers clinics, master classes and private lessons too.
The group name was inspired by the late Modern Jazz Quintet and the "Plus" or + comes from the idea that the ensemble can be as big as ten members.
